Millions across the US are suffering a blast of potentially life-threatening cold weather. The extreme Arctic blast is caused by a spinning pool of cold air known as the polar vortex. A state of emergency has been declared in the Midwestern states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois. In Chicago, temperatures have fallen to -30C (-22F). We spoke to local reporter Natalie Moore from WBEZ radio about what life is like in such cold temperatures.
