Coronavirus warning: ‘I was vomiting constantly’ Woman gives day-by-day signs of COVID-19 - Express Posted: 30 Mar 2020 12:00 AM PDT Coronavirus is an infectious disease which has been confirmed in nearly 800,000 individuals across the world. Cases are continuing to rise in the UK, and the government has urged the public to stay at home, to avoid becoming infected, or spreading the virus further. A patient has given a day-by-day account of her coronavirus experience, in a bid to persuade the public to remain at home. Amy Shircel, from Wisconsin, USA, explained that she had been travelling in Europe before developing symptoms. On her return home, Amy developed signs of the flu, including a fever, a cough, and a runny nose. But, by the third day of her symptoms, she revealed that she was constantly vomiting, and couldn't sleep at all. JUST IN: Coronavirus mild symptoms: What are the mild symptoms of coronavirus? "By the third day, I couldn't keep anything down. I was vomiting constantly. I couldn't sleep, I obviously couldn't eat. At this point, I still didn't have my test results back. "Fourth day: Test back positive. I developed shortness of breath. It's scary, it feels like your lungs are shallow and you can't take a proper breath. I was weak, had a 102 degree fever and rising. "Fifth day. Things got worse and worse. I had never been this ill in my entire life. I was genuinely afraid I would die, because that is what it felt like. "By the 6th day of symptoms, I was so weak I couldn't even walk. I crawled to the bathroom to vomit. I became so dehydrated I called 911, and they took me in an ambulance to the emergency room. I stayed there for a day where they rehydrated me and got me some anti nausea meds." Amy returned to the hospital after seven days of coronavirus symptoms. She'd never been as fatigued in her life, and either spent the day shivering in bed, or waking up in "a literal puddle of my own sweat". Amy has finally regained her appetite after 12 days of symptoms, but she admits that there's still a long way to go before making a recovery. "A coronavirus diagnosis is dehumanising and lonely, and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy," she added. "You aren't invincible just because you're in your 20s. "Take it from me, and quarantine like your life depends on it (it might). |
